Cape Town and the Garden Route are best visited during the warm dry season from October to April, but due to the mild climate can be visited all year round. Whales are present from July to November.
14 Days
"Big 5" Wildlife, Landscapes, Photography
In this 14-day safari, we explore one of the most spectacular parts of South Africa - the Western Cape’s Garden Route. Not only does this region have rich scenic beauty, with its lush evergreen forests and rugged coastline, but it teems with birds and other wildlife. In addition to three nights on safari in the world-famous Shamwari Private Game Reserve, and Addo Elephant National Park, both home to all of Africa’s “Big 5” mammals, we have included some unique wildlife photography experiences – African Penguins, wild Meerkats, Monkeyland (free-roaming primates), Birds of Eden (the largest free-flying aviary in the world), the best land-based whale-watching spot in the world, and an excursion to photograph Great White Sharks (optional).
